How We Started
Empire Health Systems was founded by a group of California physicians who saw firsthand how the traditional clinic model was failing patients — long wait times, rushed appointments, and a system that prioritized throughput over outcomes.
We set out to build something different: a mobile practice with the clinical rigor of a hospital system and the personal attention of a family doctor. Since our founding, we have served thousands of patients across California, from Los Angeles to the Central Valley to the Bay Area.
Today, Empire Health Systems is one of California's most trusted mobile medical practices, accepted by major insurers and recognized for delivering measurably better outcomes for patients with chronic conditions, mobility challenges, and complex care needs.

Founder & Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Vasquez founded Empire Health Systems after 15 years in hospital medicine, driven by a vision of care that meets patients where they are. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and holds a faculty appointment at UC San Francisco.
Family Medicine
Dr. James Okafor, MD
Medical Director, Southern California
Dr. Okafor brings 12 years of community-based family medicine to Empire Health Systems. He specializes in chronic disease management and geriatric care, and is fluent in English and Yoruba.
Internal Medicine & Geriatrics
Dr. Priya Nair, MD
Medical Director, Northern California
Dr. Nair is double board-certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. She leads our Northern California operations and has a particular focus on complex, multi-condition patients.
